One of the most important Japanese artist of her time, Shinoda’s works are featured in collections worldwide including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art New York, the National Museum of Modern Art Tokyo, and the British Museum to name a few.

Known for her independent spirit, Shinoda often used traditional forms and materials in nonconventional ways, always with the goal of self-expression foremost in her intention. Her works span many genres, appear to be at once both traditional and modern, and bridge stylistic elements of both East and West. At the ripe age of 101, Shinoda continues to build on her lifetime of achievement by maintaining her uniquely vibrant and playful style.
